They are looking for young vocal talent in and around Southampton to take part in this FREE event; which could be your first step in joining Youth Music’s national singing team and becoming part of London 2012’s Cultural Olympiad.
They will be taking over Turner Sims for the day (10.30am – 4pm) which is acknowledged as one of the finest music venues in the country, hosting over 60 concerts a year.
The event, one of many taking place in specially selected locations across the country, will be led by Youth Music Voices' Artistic Director, Richard Frostick and promises to be both inspiring and LOTS of fun for choirs and vocal groups attending. Jane, who attended the recent Youth Music Voices event in Norwich confirmed this when she told us “it was so fun and I’ve learnt new singing skills, thanks so much! J”
Richard will be joined by some extra special guest artists (names soon to be revealed!) who’ll be on hand to help him dish out creative ideas and enhance vocal techniques. They’ll be mixing up styles and genres throughout the day and you’ll also get the ideal opportunity to meet other people in the region who share a passion for singing.
Youth Music Voices is a major new Cultural Olympiad project, providing 14-19 year olds with an opportunity to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games through singing.
The ultimate goal is to select 150 young singers from all over the UK to form the Youth Music Voices Ensemble - a youth vocal ensemble unlike any other in the UK. With its own style, individuality, leadership and specially commissioned repertoire, this dynamic vocal group will go on to perform throughout the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
As well as developing these young singers to the highest standard, Youth Music Voices will be performing at a prestigious London location in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
