Goldsmiths is currently recruiting students for this years intake, this may well be the last year for this now legendary community music training course in its current form so we would urge interested people to apply.
The course develops
- Harmony and musicianship skills - developing harmony, songwriting, arranging, composing skills
- Search and Reflect - a curriculum of pieces designed for mixed ability groups
- Workshop techniques - identifying and developing the skills needed to be a good workshop leader
- Planning, facilitation, making contacts, funding, good practice, different groups
- Student run workshops - students run in class sessions in a supportive and constructive atmosphere
- Community Placements - in year 1 as observation, in year 2 to set up, run and evaluate a project themselves
- Music Technology - basics and practical uses in a variety of contexts.
Assessment is through a mixture of continuous assessment and portfolios.
The course welcomes musicians from all backgrounds - students do not need any formal qualifications but need some musical proficiency and a commitment to this challenging and rewarding field.
