Racism Out - ITV at 6pm on Thursday 27th May 2010

Monday, 24 May 2010

Jamal Ali (18), Lewis Healey (19) and Mrisi Makondo-Wills (17) all come from different backgrounds. But this hasn’t stopped them rapping and performing together.

They want to spread their anti-racist message through rap and have become Fixers to make a music video for their song Racism Out.

We take them to a studio in Soho to give them the opportunity to freestyle in a professional environment. A surprise appearance by rapper Kano inspires the Fixers to aim high. They discuss their music video and breaking down racial boundaries with him.

Watch this broadcast film in the Meridian region on ITV at 6pm on Thursday 27th May 2010.

Indian Classical Music comes to Brighton

Friday 16th July, Brighton Unitarian Church

Indian Classical Music comes to Brighton in its finest and most exhilarating form. A rare opportunity to see two masters of this genre perform in the beautiful Brighton Unitarian Church. Sitar and tabla played in the North Indian Hindustani tradition consisting of Raag (melody) and Taal (rhythm).

Born on January 21, 1962, Partha Bose was initiated to the Sitar at the age of six and thereafter underwent intensive training in the tradition of Guru-Shishya parampara under the tutelage of Pandit Monoj Shankar of the famous Maihar Gharana.

Partha has received overwhelming appreciation from connoisseurs and critics of Hindustani classical music in India and abroad over two decades now.

One of the leading exponents of the Tabla is Calcutta born maestro Shiv Shankar Ray. Not only a performer but also a very respected teacher, he represents the Farukkabadi style of playing, which is amongst the oldest of the authentic styles. He studied under the renowned late Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh of Calcutta.
