Free Training available to the Voluntary and Community Sector

Friday, 11 March 2011

** Many courses in the Core Skills and Knowledge Programme continue to be free for ALL CVS and Early Years organisations **

The Core Skills and Knowledge Programme [1MB] provides development opportunities for everyone working with children and young people in Brighton & Hove, so that they can work together to improve outcomes for children in our city. The programme is based on the Children’s Workforce Development Council’s Common Core of Skills and Knowledge. This explains that everyone working with children, young people and families should have a common set of skills and knowledge in six areas:

  • Effective communication and engagement
  • Child and young person development
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the child
  • Supporting transitions
  • Multi-agency working
  • Sharing information

The programme is open to all those who work with children and young people. This includes:

  • The city's integrated children's services staff, including school staff
  • Other public sector workers
  • Community and Voluntary Sector (CVS) staff and volunteers
  • Foster carers
  • Anyone else who works with children and young people even if that is only part of their role

Bonfire Night

Monday, 13 December 2010

AudioActive, Youth Offending Services and Brighton Dome

Bonfire Night, a supernatural Hip Hop thriller by Dizraeli.

“Remember , Remember... November 5th Brighton 2010.
Beneath the bright surface of fireworks and toffee apple festivities,
there's something darker at work ;
a meddling spirit that won't rest until the whole town has faced its demons…
As midnight draws near, it looks like some of the townsfolk might not make it till morning!”

Rap collides with theatre, music and live graffiti to spin you into a twisted world of fire and mischief.
