United Nations International Year of Youth

Monday, 17 May 2010

The UN General Assembly has announced that the year commencing on 12 August 2010 is going to be the International Year of Youth: Dialogue and Mutual Understanding. The Year will concur with the 25th anniversary of the 1985's first International Youth Year.

“The International Year of Youth is about advancing the full and effective participation of youth in all aspects of society. We encourage all sectors of society to work in partnership with youth and youth organisations to better understand their needs and concerns and to recognise the contributions that they can make to society."

A microsite has been created with information on events planned throughout this year, as well as ideas and options on how to get involved and participate. Please visit http://social.un.org/youthyear/ for more information,
